ArchiMate is an open and independent enterprise architecture modeling language to support the description, analysis and visualization of architecture within and across business domains in an unambiguous way. ArchiMate distinguishes itself from other languages such as Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) by its enterprise modelling scope.

There are quite a few tools which support ArchiMate specifications on the market, such as: IBM System Architect, Orbus iServer, Visual Paradigm ArchiMetric, Sparx Enterprise Architect, BiZZdesign Architect. Unfortunately these proprietary tools can be pricy.

Quite a few of our public sector clients are busy in planning their digital strategies. But to my surprise, one of my potential clients told me although they have their digital strategy, they don’t have directions to implement it and they don’t know how.

I had engagement to setup Oracle WebCenter Portal and Content for a public sector client before. It took a few days to complete. The procedure to setup enterprise level application is not always smooth. Usually you get fairly complete installation guide, but you could get lost very easily because of two many dependencies in those documents.

In order to make everybody’s life easier, I write down below installation steps for Oracle WebCenter Content 11gR2. With this guidance, you could finish it in a cozy afternoon, then enjoy the sunset at beach park.

1. Download software;
   1. VMware WS 12.0.1 Player for Linux 64bit (free) or Virtual Box 5.0.8 (free);
   2. Oracle Database 11g Express (free);
